"The Iron Daughter"

Review For The Iron Daughter By Julie Kagawa

                                               *****Book Summary*****

Half faery princess, half human, Meghan Chase is now a prisoner in the winter court with her beloved ice prince no where to be seen. While held captive the iron fey frame the summer court for stealing the scepter of seasons causing the winter court to declare war. But no one believes Meghan when she says the iron fey exist. In order to save the NeverNever Meghan must find and return the scepter while trying to convince the winter prince that their love is something not to be thrown away. New allies emerge, love blooms, and Meghan discovers shes stronger then she once thought.

I must say I absolutely loved this book! After reading the "Iron King" I didn't think this story could get any better but boy was I wrong. I applaud Julie Kagawa and her beautiful stories once again. I must warn you, I don't think I can contain myself on this one so there may be some SPOILERS! If you don't like spoilers you might want to skip this one but if your like me and spoilers only make you want to read further then please continue.

The beginning of this book had me wanting to strangle Ash until he stopped acting stupid, and when Meghan, against her will, said those three big words I thought i was going to burst with excitement. I know most girls most likely would be infuriated and fed up with they way his royal iciness was acting, as I was, but then I decided to look at it another way. If he hadn't acted that way neither one of them would of gotten out of Tir Na Nog alive. So in the end I don't blame him. As for Meghan, well like I said the whole "I Love You" scene, to me, was awesome. Yes she was sometimes being weak, yes she kind of got all pathetic over Ash but that's what happens when the guy you love is being a jerk. Either way I love Meghan. Also to those nay Sayer's who think Meghan was a bit much with the pathetic love sickness let me remind you all of something.   In Chapter three Meghan compares herself to the girls at her school who would cry and fuss when they broke up with their boyfriends and how she once thought they overreacted. But now that she was in that same position she realized it was different when your the one in love. So its not like she didn't know she was acting crazy, she just couldn't help it, and if your heart is broken your not exactly thinking about how its making you look to others.

OK moving on! In this book you find out that Puck is in love with Meghan. Not a shocker, and yes love triangles have been shooting up all over today's books, movies, and TV shows. But you know what? I still love them. To me it gives a little more conflict with the romance than the usual relationship drama. Like, when do you say "I love you"? or Should we sleep together? or Will their family like me? It gives the romance that edge of, who can you not live without? To me that's almost as romantic as it can get. Though I must say I am team Ash all the way and when Puck started making out with Meghan I wanted to scream "STOP DOING THAT! GET OFF HER! THINK OF ASH!" but of course no matter how loud I screamed they didn't hear me. In fact the only ones who did hear me were my fellow co-workers who couldn't help but look at me like I lost my mind. Oh well.

I also loved the character of Ironhorse. Every time he spoke it was like I could hear his booming voice in my head. I honestly thought he'd pull through in the end and wanted to cry when he didn't. I also enjoyed Leansidhe. She truly was like Meghan's faery godmother who, if you pissed her off, could easily kill you. As for Meghan's "new" glamour I cant say I was surprised. Due to the fact that a friend of mine hinted to this piece of information. Though when it did occur I was still extremely intrigued. I look forward to seeing how she uses this ability in the future.

The end of this book was everything I could of hoped for and because I've probably given away to much information already I'll leave the ending of this book with one word, AMAZING! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves action writing, love, and faery lore.
